Meet The Team
Below is a list of our Pilots and County Coordinators and senior members, some of whom hold other ranks, some of the longer serving members are listed here, more will be added over time.
Air search members meet regularly, and keep in touch with each other to make sure that AirSearch is a coordinated organisation, like the flying that we do, and where possible we organise social and "meet" events to bring all of our members together.
because of distances involved The Northern and Southern counties are independant but work to the same training and guidelines as standard.
Air search is divided into two independant Groups The North and the South of UK
South Counties Cptn. Peter Adams
North Counties Cptn. Andy Dixon
This is not a comprehensive list of members. Air Search has numerous members, pilots and observers, without whom, Air Search could not function which are not shown here.

Arnold Parker
Founder of AirSearch

I have been around flying for longer than I like to admit but under torture have confessed I started as long ago as 1965 on Chipmunks. I now fly on an NPPL operating a Pioneer 300 and a Magni M24 gyrocopter - doing 100 - 200 hours a year on average
Born and bred in Yorkshire, I am an active family man holding the rank of Grandad and is also a retired businessman. The businessman bit was useful for my flying because my company had trading groups and offices throughout Europe - providing an excellent reason for a company Cessna 182 |
Cpt. Andy Dixon VSM

Whilst serving with the R.A.F. 2490 squadron, Andy took up an apprenticeship as an engineer, with further educational training to degree standard.
For the majority of his working career, Andy has been governed by the secretary of state for transport, working within the Rail industry, and working as a vehicle safety inspector at the cutting edge of the automotive safety industry. 2012 was a very busy year for Andy. Firstly receiving the Kent Police Volunteer Support Medal, & The Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal, later in the year Andy was recognised for assisting in the training of 20 search pilots and navigators for the 2012 London Olympic Games, and also for "services to humanity" and for this he was awarded the V.S.M. Andy migrated to us from another Aviation charity where he served as a search pilot and 'Unit Chief Pilot'. Andy now sits at Boardroom level as well as in the pilot’s seat of a challenging search aircraft. Glider flying with the R.A.F. from the mid 1970's sparked his passion for aviation, and he took his first G.A.powered flying lesson in 1986, he flies fixed & flex wing aircraft, Andy has flown everything from a helicopter to a gyrocopter, even high altitude gliders. Andy still fulfills his role as a senior search pilot and flies the east coast shore line. Andy says the hight of his career was flying as a search pilot in the 2012 Olympic Games My own aircraft is a specially adapted 2014 "top of the range" Pegasus Quik 912s. A high flexable winged aircraft, which is an ideal platform for both low level search flying and high altitude photographic work, can remain airborne for over 6 hours without refuelling |

AIR-SEARCH SOUTH
Peter Adams has 30 years flying experience with 3,500 hours total time, about 2,500 of which with the Joint Services on search and find missions, having flown with the Civil Air Guard (CASARA) in Canada and flown for 8 years as a ferry pilot throughout Europe with the Aerospatiale light aircraft division
He has flown numerous aircraft, both single and multi-engine, which includes Spitfire Mk 9 and the Harvard. I also have an amphibious licence and have flown the Buccaneer. I have flown many sorties with the RAF out of Brize Norton, where I was part of the civilian crew tanking fighters over the North Sea. We were flying in the VC10K and the Tristar tankers. I have also flown with the RAF on many occasions in the C130 Hercules and the Globemaster. I now own and mainly fly my PA-28 which forms part of the Air Search fleet. |
Safety officer and been flying since the age of 9, gliders first, solo at 16, gained my PPL in 28 days following a season working on a 25m Motor Yacht ( to pay for it). As an auxiliary Coastguard and now a senior captain for a major UK airline, owns and flies out of Rochester Airport, a Europa Classic Kitplane with a mono-wheel configuration undercarriage and outriggers.
The streamlined composite design and the unusually low canopy give the Europa both high cruise speeds (up to 200 mph (322 km/h)) and high fuel efficiency (up to 50 mpg or 5.6 l per 100 km) due to the decreased drag. |
PETER STRETTONPilot
County Coordinator, Kent |
Peter is a retired Engineer, having worked at Dungeness Nuclear Power Station for 33 years, was in the ATC and did a gliding course at 16 years old, and went on to get his NPPL.
Now has built a Skyranger Swift Mircolight in the garage from a flat pack kit. It is now a very reliable, pleasurable and relatively cheap (compared to other GA light aircraft) aircraft to fly. It is a simple and elegant design, with a high wing. And being a microlight I can slow down to about 40 kts (about 45mph) without stalling which is excellent for looking out for targets or getting the "money shot" when photographing. I fly from a private grass strip near to Ashford, Kent. |
Essex co-ordinator based out of Stapleford Aerodrome.
Mo has IFR and CPL ratings. with over 700 hours logged time ownes Piper Seneca and has aquired a Rockwell Commander and also have Beech King Air type rating. Out of the 3 aircraft the Commander is better for the type of work Air Search undertakes as it can cruise slower, is more manoeuvrable, and has a nose mounted prop, rather than 2 wing mounted like the Seneca or King Air, which can get in the way of the observer trying to take photos. |

Retired local government manager living in South-East London and earliest flying was with the RAF cadets at school where I got a gliding licence.
in 2000 got his PPL and now also have an IMC rating. I’m part of a group flying a Liberty XL2 light aircraft based at the most famous airport in the world, Biggin Hill, and have 600 hrs logged time. In 2012, with another pilot, I flew a Liberty XL2 all the way across the USA coast to coast and back again. Flying during the day for as long as the the aircraft's endurance and range would take us and stopping off somewhere different every night. My aviation adventure of a lifetime. |
Kent, London & SE
Senior Observer |
Luke joined Air Search in 2011 as and is now one of our most senior observers having undertaken and proved his competency in ground school theory, flight simulator training and actual real life missions. He has acquired over 100 hours logged flight times.
currently a serving Police Officer and has served on attachments with the National Police Air Service police helicopter Air Support Unit. |
John Flies from Redhill aerodrome. Flying an EC120 EuroCopter, He is always at the forefront of most of our operations as the obvious benefits from helicopters in the type of work we undertake speak for themselves.
Good all round visibility, able to hover and maneuver in any direction make helicopters the centre piece of our operations. John splits his time between working in London in accounts, banking, family in Surrey and of course, flying for Air Search. |

Ron started flying in 1974 at Shoreham in a Rollason Condor and qualified for his PPL the following year. Since then he has been an RAF VR(T) Officer, training Air Cadets and junior officers to fly gliders. He owned a gliding club for 20 or so years, where he was the full time instructor and has flown in excess of 37,000 flights in gliders. He has many interests outside of flying, mainly involving old cars and motorcycles and all types of vintage engineering.
Ron is a Senior Pilot/Coordinator with Air Search and with his partner, Sandra Davis, owns an Aviat Husky aeroplane, G-HSKE, which they use for pleasure and Air Search duties. They also own a vintage aeroplane, an Aeronca Champion, which was built in 1946, but this is not used for Air Search work. He learns every time he flies and has in excess of 6,500 hours as Pilot in Command in 89 different types of aeroplane. |
